Officials with Imperial estimate this will bring about 100 new tech manufacturing jobs to Springfield.

The new limos will cost under three-cents a mile to operate and have a range up to two hundred miles per charge.

Officials with Plug-In Motors want to show everyone electric cars are not glorified golf carts.

"We're showing the world that an electric vehicle doesn't have to be an egg. It can be exciting to drive, have perfect weight distribution, have terrific handling, terrific zero to sixty top speeds of 80 mph and a range of two hundred miles," says CEO of Plug-In Motors Kurt Neutgens.

The first fully functional electric limo will be ready at the beginning of next year.

The company hopes to begin full scale production after that.
